At 1948, the Museum of Modern Art organized a design competition for chairs that should be ready for industrial production and sold at low prices. This was not exactly Finn Juhl's specialty, as it had become famous for its incredibly elegant and detailed handcrafted furniture. However, Finn Juhl decided to send his work. The result was a beautiful and sculptural armchair in polyamide. Unfortunately, Finn Juhl did not win the competition. The winner, however, was the couple Charles and Ray Eames with their famous Plastic Chair, which has since been produced by millions.
The Modern Art Chair has never been produced before. The frame of the chair is molded in polyamide and is supported by steel legs painted in black, orange, light blue or light gray with wooden toe. It is complemented by a reversible seat cushion and upholstered in fabric or leather. The armchair is ideal for indoor and outdoor use.
