The Peter CH410 chair was designed by Hans J. Wegner during World War II. Finding quality gifts in times of war in Europe was not easy, so when Wegner needed a suitable baptismal gift for Peter, the son of his friend and furniture designer Børge Mogensen, he was in charge of manufacturing it.
A consummate cabinetmaker, Wegner conceived and built a simple but ingenious table and chair that would function as a functional object and as a captivating toy. Designed as a life-size 3D puzzle in untreated beech, the assembly is easily assembled without the use of tools.
Originally designed as part of a set, the CH410 chair can be combined with the CH411 table. Taken together, these pieces reveal the scope of Wegner's innovative spirit, as well as its superior ability to achieve simplicity while honoring the natural needs and interests of children.
