The source of inspiration of Ilmari Tapiovaara for the Maija lamp was the Maya bee (in the original German: Die Biene Maja), a nice character from a children's book by 1902, from which came some comic strips and a Japanese TV series. popular, translated by Maija in Finland.
Tapiovaara imagined a tower of metal saucers superimposed where the light of a shining honeycomb leaks out, full of life. Originally the dishes were sticky pink, and then white, both versions offered today by Santa & Cole.
Details: Floor lamp 36 cm diameter x 67 cm height. Metal screens in white and matt brass feet.
