It is part of the catalog of the firm Knoll and is considered as the first collection of contemporary outdoor furniture. Richard Schultz (1926) after studying mechanical engineering and design at Iowa State University and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, joined Knoll at 1951.
Schultz is known for his outdoor furniture designs. Its elegant Petal Table, introduced in 1960, received the design award of the Industrial Design magazine.
After leaving Knoll, he continued to have a successful career designing collections for his own studio.
