George Nelson (1908-1986) was born in Hartford (Connecticut, USA). Study Architecture at Yale University. Between 1932 and 1934, a scholarship allows you to study at the American Academy of Rome. In Europe he makes contact with the works and the protagonists of the modern style. In 1935 he joins the writing of Architectural Forum, magazine in which he works until 1944.
A short time later, he was appointed design director of Herman Miller (until 1972), becoming a key figure of American design: tab to Charles and Ray Eames, Isamu Noguchi and Alexander Girard. In 1946 he runs his own design studio, creating works that are considered icons of the mid-century modern style. Your collaboration with Vitra starts at 1957.
