Starting on October 6, Fritz Hansen will reissue the legendary Carimate armchair, originally designed in 1959, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Vico Magistretti.
On October 6, it was 100 years since the birth of one of the most influential designers of the XNUMXth century, Vico Magistretti, and the Danish firm Fritz Hansen wanted to pay tribute to the master by relaunching the mythical Carimate armchair, designed by him and turned into one of his most successful pieces.
Magistretti designed the Carimate chair in 1959 for the Carimate golf club in Italy. Originally the color chosen was red and the seat material was straw. In this way, inspired by honoring the initial aesthetics, and without risking the organic decomposition associated with natural straw, Fritz Hansen has used GMO-free European linen for the seat. 110 meters are handwoven to create this organic seat. Also, small changes have been made to the seat height and backrest design for added comfort. And the chair is available, step aside red lacquerin black finish.
Each chair is individually numbered for authenticity and longevity. A brass plate under each seat brands its unique number.
“Carimate a special chair with a lot of presence and personality. Vico Magistretti made a modern classic with this design. It's strong on its own or around a dining table, ”says Christian Andresen, Chief Designer at Fritz Hansen.
