The father of the PK22 was Poul Kjaerholm, a Danish designer who attracted international recognition for his contributions to the exhibition "Formes Scandinaves" in Paris at 1958. That same year he received the Lunning Prize, an award created by Frederick Lunning granted between the years 1951 and 1970 to outstanding designers for his work as ambassadors of Scandinavian design.
