The ML10097 Egyptian Table side table Carl Hansen was designed by Mogens Lassen in 1940. It is a flexible coffee table that exemplifies the functionalism present in classic furniture types.
For Lassen and his contemporaries, the function was paramount. His approach, strongly influenced by Kaare Klint, often began with the careful study and refinement of archetypes such as safari-style folding chairs, British Windsor and Chippendale chairs, and practical and flexible tables such as the Egyptian.
These clear and proven types of furniture attracted mid-century design and architecture visionaries, while maintaining their fundamental belief that smart, purposeful design never goes out of style.
