At 2013, Hella Jongerius and Vitra collaborated on the design of a chair for the north ward of delegates at the United Nations headquarters in New York. This model served as the basis for the development of the East River Chair. With its unmistakable shape and the carefree combination of materials and colors, it clearly bears the signature of the Dutch designer.
In the East River Chair Leather, a new version of this design, the seat shell is completely lined with leather. Hella Jongerius designed four variants, each of which combines leathers of two different colors for the interior and exterior surfaces, with cross stitching contrasted as a decorative effect.
Unlike the expressive mix of materials and fabrics used for the East River Chair, the East River Chair Leather gives off a more relaxed look, but with the same comfort and support for the spine thanks to the high quality of the padding and the lumbar cushion. The base is available in light or dark version.
