Michael and Thomas Asplund founded Asplund Gallery to display furniture as art objects, and vice versa. In 1990, Thomas Asplund quit his job as a banker to team up with his brother.
With its unconventional background, the duo brought new ideas to the industry. Seeing furniture as objects of art was a new way of thinking that quickly became popular. The gallery soon became a stage for contemporary Swedish design. They began to develop their own line of furniture and design pieces under the name of EDITION ASPLUND.
