Vittoriano Viganó

Vittoriano Viganò (1919-1996) was born in Milan, where he graduated in Architecture at the Polytechnic School in 1944.
Main figure of the post-war architectural debate and original interpreter of European rationalism, he was unanimously considered by critics as the most important Italian exponent of the 'Brutalism' current.
Multidisciplinary talent, full professor of Interior Architecture and Urban Planning throughout his life at the Faculty of Milan, Vittoriano worked on several scales: from industrial design to architecture, from interior design to urban planning and landscaping.
He was Art Director of Arteluce, the company founded by Gino Sarfatti, for some years, and for her he designed numerous luminaries as well as the flagship store of Via della Spiga in Milan.
In 1991 the Academy of San Luca awarded him the Architecture Prize of the President of the Italian Republic.
