Tom Dixon (Sfax, Tunisia, 1959) is a self-taught designer specializing in the creation of furniture and lighting. His artistic career began when he discovered the pleasure of welding while repairing the damaged motorcycle frame in an accident. From that moment Dixon abandoned the rebellious lifestyle of bassist and promoter of nightclubs.
In 1987 he founded the furniture and lamps manufacturing company, Dixon PID, dedicated to the manufacture of lamps in exclusive or limited editions. At 1998, Sir Terence Conan, owner of the Habitat store and icon of twentieth-century British design, names Tom Dixon as the creative director of his firm. Already in the year 2002 established the firm Tom Dixon along with the economist David Begg, a company focused on the design of furniture and luminaires.
Obsessed with noble materials, and with a great commitment to innovate design and manufacturing, he launches new collections at the Milan Furniture Fair every year.
