Diseñador

Jørn Utzon

Jørn Utzon (1918-2008) is known for having won the competition to design the Sydney Opera House. Born in Copenhagen to a naval engineer, Utzon helped his father design and build ships as a child, often spending time with shipyard workers. The shipbuilding work of his youth served as inspiration later, as Utzon sought his own personal design language.
After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1942, Utzon traveled to Stockholm to work with the Swedish architect Gunnar Asplund. After the war, Utzon worked in the office of Alvar Aalto, where he assimilated the functionalist and aesthetic ideas of the latter.
Founding his own studio in Copenhagen in the 50s, Utzon designed buildings and houses around the world. In 1982, Utzon was awarded the Alvar Aalto Medal in recognition of his significant contribution to creative architecture.
Naharro furniture distributes the pieces designed by Jørn Utzon in its stores in Madrid and online store, with delivery and assembly service throughout Spain. Ask us for any additional information.
