Designed in 1954 by the famous French glassmaker and decorator Max Ingrand, this lamp was originally named 1853 and, later, Fontana, in homage to FonatanaArt, the company of which the teacher was artistic director for a decade. For design enthusiasts and connoisseurs of the brand's history, 1853 remains a kind of nickname.
The Fontana lamp, the first timeless symbol of design, is still a best seller and design icon today. It is the abat-jour par excellence.
