Description
The FH429 Signature Chair was designed in 1954 by Frits Henningsen, a cabinetmaker who practiced his profession with very high standards. Henningsen always made his own designs and often started by creating a small model, in this case using modeling clay and toothpicks. The frame was made in his Copenhagen workshop, and underwent several months of testing and adjustment before Henningsen was satisfied. The simplicity of Henningsen's work increased over the years.
The Signature chair has become its purest and cut design. His interest in achieving comfort and elegance through the use of elegant lines and curves is evident in this final project. Its soft and cozy shapes and floating armrests create a simple and organic shape that requires silent contemplation.
After the seat was manufactured in 1954, fewer than 20 pieces were produced. Carl Hansen & Søn reintroduced design in 2015.
Details: Structure in soapy oak and upholstered in black Sif 98 leather. Seat height 41 cm.
