Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe (1886 - 1969) was born in Aix-la-Chapelle (Germany). In this same city he is a student of multiple art schools and craft workshops. At the age of 19 he began working as a furniture designer in a small design studio owned by Bruno Paul in Berlin.
In 1929 he built one of his most outstanding works, the German Pavilion at the Barcelona International Exhibition. The following year he took over the administration and direction of the Bauhaus in Dessau in Berlin, remaining in charge until the closure of the institution in 1933. Later he emigrated to the United States, where he began to make himself known with numerous and spectacular works.
