Paul Schärer and Fritz Haller
Fritz Haller (1924 - 2012) was a Swiss architect and designer. Developed in 1963, together with the engineer Paul Schärer (1933 - 2011), the Schärer Haller USM Systems. This series of modular furniture elements were produced in 1969 as standard for the first time and immediately they were in high demand internationally. The furniture system is inspired by the principle of the blocks used in construction. The series goes from the basic system of shelves and cabinets to a series of multi-functional tables, which complement the system perfectly.
Today the USM Haller furniture is a classic of 20th century design included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
