Otto Blümel (Augsburg, Germany, 1881 - Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, 1973) studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich and later devoted himself to painting. From 1907 to 1914 he was director of the design department of the United Workshops for Art in Crafts Munich, a pioneering force in interior design and decoration of the time. It was during this period that he produced furniture designs that are still appreciated today. Otto Blümel's most famous piece is the Nymphenburg coat rack from 1908.
