Max Bill (1908-1994) was a Swiss painter, sculptor, architect and graphic designer. One of the most versatile exponents of the avant-garde principles of the Bauhaus in Germany. His insistence on the use of a mathematical basis for all forms of art is reflected in his paintings, which are characterized by their often geometric designs. His graphic and industrial designs present a branded functionality.
Between 1935 and 1953 he created, in the field of sculpture, different variations on the theme of the infinite loop in polished metal. He exerted great influence on European industrial art and design as a teacher and director of the Zürich and Ulm schools, and as an organizer of art exhibitions.
