Ernesto Gismondi (1931) is an Italian designer and engineer who played an important role in the most progressive design circles. After studying aeronautics and aerospace in Milan and Rome, he founded Artemide in Milan in 1959 with Sergio Mazza.
His professional and business participation in line with the progressive currents of design in Italy is evidenced by his sponsorship and presidency of the design group Memphis, as well as the vice-presidency of ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale), member of the Council in Milan Triennale, and participate in a number of ministerial commissions on various aspects of design.
