Xavier Pauchard (1880-1948) was born in a wooded area of the French region of Burgundy. Following the family tradition, he started as a worker in the zinc sector to become the first national manufacturer of galvanized steel goods in France. It is curious that Pauchard focus on this material, since it comes from a wooded area with an important wood industry.
He developed the galvanizing process consisting of submerging the iron or steel into molten zinc to create a very durable outer layer that is almost totally immune to degradation. Creator of icons such as Chair A or Stool H of Tolix.
