The collection of Rietveld miniatures consists of the Rood blauwe stoel armchair and the Zig zag chair. With a size that is exactly one sixth of that of the historical originals, the chairs are true to scale and reproduce the smallest details of construction, material and color.
The authenticity reaches even the natural grain of the wood and the reproduction of the screws and the complex artisan techniques used.

The Miniatures Collection is a compendium of the history of industrial furniture design, from Historicism and Art Nouveau to Bauhaus and New Objectivity, from Radical Design and Postmodernism to the present day.

Diseñador

Gerrit Thomas Rietveld (1888-1964) was a Dutch carpenter, designer and architect, the son of a cabinetmaker and who at 1918 started his own furniture factory, while studying architecture. They emphasize his designs of the Zig-Zag chair and the Utrech sofa and armchair that Cassina currently publishes.
He participated for years with the De Stijl movement, breaking with this in 1928 to join the Nieuwe Zakelijkheid. During his last years, he highlighted his social architecture and cheap and easy-to-make furniture designs (Krat series).
